The Lung Cancer Screening Engagement Study aims to improve how primary care teams support low-income patients who are at risk of developing lung cancer. Led by Principal Investigator David Strong, PhD, from the Department of Family Medicine and Public Health at UC San Diego, the project builds on prior TRDRP-funded work to enhance clinic workflows, strengthen low-dose CT (LDCT) referrals, and increase patient participation in annual lung cancer screening. Using patient and provider input from a real-world community health center setting, the study evaluates which screening and support strategies are most effective, feasible, feasible, and acceptable. The ultimate goal is to create a sustainable patient-centered model that reduces lung cancer disparities among underserved smokers.
