Staff Highlights: New Medical Director

The Laura Rodriguez Research Institute proudly welcomes Dr. Aaron Besterman, M.D., as its new Medical Director. Dr. Besterman is a child and adolescent psychiatrist whose work integrates clinical care, precision medicine, and translational research to improve outcomes for youth with rare diseases and complex psychiatric conditions. His portfolio includes investigator-initiated studies in neurogenetics, immunogenomics, biomarker discovery, and experimental therapeutics, including N-of-1 trial design for ultra-rare disorders. Prior to joining FHCSD, Dr. Besterman held clinical and research appointments at USFC, UCLA, and the Rady Children’s Institute for Genomic Medicine. He continues to serve as a Health Sciences Associate Clinical Professor at UC San Diego. LRRI is honored to welcome his leadership and vision.
