Article

Our LRRI team’s publication, Characterization of Long COVID Patients Using Longitudinal Fitbit Data: Insights into Post-Viral Infection Behaviors, in JMIR Formative Research. This aim of the study was to identify longitudinal patterns in physical activity, physiology, and patient reported outcomes (PROs) among Long COVID patients enrolled in the Long COVID and Fatiguing Illness Recovery Program. The secondary aim was to identify meaningful subgroups or phenotypes within the study population and examine the overlap of PROs and symptoms with respect to the physical activity characteristics of Long COVID patients. This study highlighted the complex nature and varying impact of Long COVID on individuals and offers valuable insight for health care providers in tailoring rehabilitation efforts to personal activity profiles. The publication reflects our institute’s ongoing commitment to advancing rigorous, evidence-based research and contributing to informed discussion on issues of importance to policymakers, providers, and the broader research community.
